The 12ft Skeleton
A Home Depot impulse buy becomes a multi-year Halloween spectacle β with straw bales, a homegrown pumpkin patch, and a skeleton that stays up year-round.
Soooo, like right before I got Covid, I showed up to Home Depot when they opened, so that I could purchase one of those delightfully ridiculous giant skeletons.
I love it, and I love how much people love it. People honk and give me thumbs up constantly. So fun. ππ

These people with the indoor skeletons are showing off. My ceilings aren’t that tall!!
But we are VERY much considering all seasonal options.
Yes, I did in fact buy bales of straw to add to my September Halloween display.

The roofline are all C9 style ws2811, the far tree (that’s way too bright right now) is 800 bullet pixels. The skeleton is wrapped and the giant bulbs stuffed with pixels.

Seems he’ll be in the range of the giant skeleton and inferno (pumpkin guy). Definitely worth keeping up all year!

How do we feel about Halloween in June?

And, having a little tractor is β amazing. Have I mentioned that we have a bunch of pumpkins in July? ππ

This is me losing my mind. Because this is the new pumpkin patch. Should be ready for fall harvest around Halloween. The drip line around the perimeterβ¦.that will be corn.
Have I mentioned how I live in La Mesa, not the countryside? π

π Pumpkins are growing. About 35 plants of different varieties going.

Check out this amazing pumpkin leaf. MusquΓ©e de Provence.

Want to see 18 days of pumpkin growth in 6 seconds? Yes β I did setup a camera specifically for making a pumpkin patch timelapse.
Pumpkins are struggling a bit, bad soil and a stretch of rather hot weather is (I think) the culprit. Not quite the grand vision I had in mind, but it’s still fun.

They say the same about the skeleton, but what are rules if not meant to be broken??
(Sad I forgot to take a picture of him from behind, rigged up with no legs)

We had a Halloween party this weekend, and it was everything I could have hoped for when we bought this house a couple years ago.
Tons of fun with old friends, new friends, families, and neighbors. π
